Best Disc Golf Mid-Ranges for Slow Arm Speed

As you begin to experiment with different discs, you may realize that distance drivers and even fairway drivers are just too fast and too overstable for you, even if their flight ratings don't indicate it.

You have putters that you can reliably throw, but because you can't throw drivers just yet, you're in search of a quality mid-range that will suit your slower arm speed.

Generally speaking, if this describes you as a player, whether you're new or just have slower arm speed, then the mid-range that you're going to be looking for is an understable one.

You may not necessarily need a complete turnover disc, but rather one that is not going to hyzer or fade out right out of the hand.

The good news is that there are several options out there for you to choose from and we're here to tell you what those options are!

Many of these discs are going to be understable, as understable discs are simply easier to throw when you don't have quite enough arm strength.

But some are going to be discs that you'll come to love even when your arm strength does improve.

We get things started with one my personal favorite understable mid-ranges, the Discraft Meteor.

This disc is money to me!

I find that it is very easy to manipulate release angle and I can use this disc for a variety of shots out on the course.

As your arm strength improves, it will be a little flippy, but when thrown with some finesse and touch, this disc will fly nice and straight..

The speed of 4 will be very manageable and the glide of 5 will carry this disc down the fairway with ease.

This may be one of the newer discs on the list, but Infinite Discs nailed it with the Kon Tiki.

Like the Meteor, this disc is understable and will fly very nicely for you as a new or slow armed player.

It will have less fade than the Meteor, which will make it less stable as your arm strength improves, but will be perfect to throw until then.

With just moderate power, this disc will flip to flat nicely before just fading nice and straight down the fairway, try to today!

Just like the first 2 options on our list, the Patrol is an excellent beginner friendly disc that will help you learn to throw with excellent form while still achieving maximum distance when your arm speed hasn't quite peaked.

The speed of 5 will cause this disc to fly more like a mid-range than the first 2 discs but is still very manageable regardless and will still allow for a very nice S shaped flight pattern when thrown with a hyzer release.

I'm a big fan of Dynamic Discs molds and this disc is no exception!

If you bag other discs by this awesome brand and are familiar with their plastics, then do not hesitate to try one in premium plastic as soon as you get the chance.

The next disc on our list is a classic, and one that you'll definitely want to add to your bag.

It is the first option so far on are list that is not understable, but when you learn to throw it, it will be come a very reliable disc for you.

The Buzzz is a stable, straight flying mid-range that will a more noticeable amount of fade than the other options, but when thrown with adequate power will fly nice and straight with even a little bit of an S shaped flight pattern.

This excellent mid-range is one of the most used, and most popular discs on the market, so join the crowd and get one today, even if you end up choosing an understable option as well!

The insane glide of 6 and turn of -4 on this disc makes it a MUST HAVE for any new player looking to perfect their form and increase their distance.

It will be very forgiving of hyzer release angles and high releases because no matter what, this disc is going to want to flip to flat and turn immediately out of the hand.

Add in a speed of 4, and this disc will immediate make a positive impact to any new player or experienced player looking for a VERY understable option.

Right up there with the Buzzz, is this insanely straight flying Mako3 by Innova.

Like the Buzzz, the Mako3 is an excellent option for every beginner to learn with as it will simply hold any line that it is put on and will do so VERY well.

The speed of 5 and glide of 4 is on par with most mid-ranges but the turn and fade of 0 make this disc a point and shoot option for players of all abilities and arm speeds.

The Theory is another stable option on our list that we definitely wanted to include because of its popularity and ease to use.

With it being a little slower than many mid-ranges, it will be easy to control for all arm speeds and will provide a gentle S shaped flight pattern to maximize distance.

Once beat in a little, this disc will become a nice turnover option for you, especially as your arm strength improves, so grab one if you get the chance!

Despite being from a lesser known or lesser talked about brand in the disc golf community, the Tremor by DGA is an extremely popular understable disc that slower armed players simply love to throw.

Slower armed players love it because even if they're throwing short distances, this discs is still going to finish straight ahead after a beautifully shaped S flight pattern.

As your skill level improves, you will love having the speed 6 and will be able to use it to it's full potential for hyzer flips and mid range roller shots as it will be able to hand the extra power due to its speed of 6 and glide of 5.

Despite being one of the lesser understable discs on this list, this solid option from Westside Discs will still be easy to throw with just moderate power.

Right out of the box, this disc will settle in very nicely for any player who is looking for an understable mid-range, but not something that is a complete turn and burn type disc that you must put a lot of hyzer on to prevent from turning over immediately.

While stable options on our list will fly straight for all arm strengths, the Tursas will fly exceptionally straight for slower arms because of the slightly higher turn.

It's easy to throw, and easy to love, so try one today!

Last on our list of 10 is the Fuse by Latitude 64.

The Fuse is similar to the Tursas in that it will fly extremely straight for slow armed players, and even for stronger armed players when thrown on hyzer.

The difference between the Tursas however is that the S shaped flight will be much more subtle as the turn of -1 and fade of 0 will keep the disc flight relatively straight down the fairway.

Even though it is number 10 on our list, it is still a great option for you to try if you get the chance!
